The World’s Best Honey
I have the honor of selling Fazenda Alfheim Raw Honey. And yes, it is truly an honor to do so – you’ll understand once you taste it.
This honey is raw and beyond organic. The bees that produce this mouth-watering, nutrient-rich honey are happy, healthy residents of the Serra do Mar state park of São Paulo that feast on the varied plants of the Mata Atlantica. They live on one of the most sustainable, organic farms of Brazil and the honey is harvested by some of the most caring and wonderful people I know.
Fazenda Alfheim honey is harvested two times a year. Each harvest produces a slightly different honey due to the changing seasons and plants. I currently have two different harvests for sale, both of which are delicious – one being very light in color and incredibly fluffy and the other a caramel-colored, syrupy variety. The each come in 600mL jars. To learn more about the farm where the honey is produced, please check out the Fazenda Alfheim blog. You can also read about how much we love the farm and our friends Rance and Lone here and here.
Why Raw Honey?
Honey is a natural sweetener that has beneficial nutritional properties that range from promoting digestive health to eliminating allergies. It is considered a powerful antioxidant, strengthens the immune system and contains natural vitamins and enzymes. All these properties are lost when honey is heated, as happens in the pasteurization process for most supermarket honey, which is why it is so much better to eat the raw version. And on top of all that, it is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted.
